Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo and J7 Prime 2 Reviews

Design & Body

Both smartphones are covered by aluminium at the rear with plastic at the edges, giving them a premium feel but it’s important to note that they have more reduced bezels than previous models.

The designs are pretty much the same: the home button, return button and recent buttons are positioned below the display while Samsung’s logo is emblazoned to the top of the smartphones. It’s also noteworthy to add that the home button also functions are the fingerprint sensor but only in the Galaxy J7 Duo.

Display

The screens of the Samsung Galaxy J7 smartphones are essentially the same in size but they vary when it comes to the panels used. The Galaxy J7 Duo comes with a Super AMOLED panel and a 720pp resolution which is quite decent. We would have considered the display to be great if the pixels density is more the 267 pixels per inch.

Coming to the Galaxy J7 Prime, it is equipped with a 5.5 inches IPS TFT capacitive touchscreen that has a 1080 x 1920 resolution and a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch. Juxtaposing the two smartphones, it is easily clear that the Galaxy Prime 2 has a better display than its sibling. The display is detailed and the colour reproduction is incredible for its price. It has the same screen size but a high resolution which you won’t find in many smartphones.

Camera

Samsung might not necessarily be a brand that’s known for the best cameras, but they certainly will make the list of the top 5. These two models easily rank high in performance for a budget category. The Galaxy J7 Duo has 13MP and 5MP shooters with f/1.9 aperture to capture all your happy moments while the selfie camera is equipped with 8MP sensor. The picture quality for the rear camera is simply superb while the selfie camera is basic.

Turning to the Galaxy J7 Prime 2, its camera sensors consist of a 13MP shooter on the rear and another 13MP on the front for selfies. Unlike the Galaxy J7 Duo, this model is suitable for users who want to have clear and colourful images without a special preference for the main camera or selfie camera. It is aided by a similar f/.1,9 aperture which makes the images bright enough but not to affect the quality of the photos.

Processor

The Galaxy J7 Duo runs on Samsung’s own octa-core Exynos 7870 with a clock speed of 1.6GHz while the Galaxy J Pr7 prime 2 uses the octa-core Exynos 7885 which operates at a frequency of 1.6GHz. Both models are supported by 3GB RAM to ensure the smooth running of the phones.

As you might have known, Samsung chipsets are efficient and can help conserve battery juice while also handling apps without issues. Since the models are in between the budget and midrange category, the chipsets can handle most games well but if you want an excellent experience without any lag or problems any graphics problem.

Battery

The Galaxy J7 Duo is powered by a 3,000mAh battery unit while the Galaxy J7 Prime 2 comes with a 3,300mAh cell but the two models do not have the fast charging technology which means you might have to plug them into the socket overnight if you plan going out with them for the entire day.

You might be lucky to use any of the smartphones for a single day if you’re a light user otherwise; we recommend you go out with your charger to top up the battery when it runs out.

Wrap-up

There may be tons of phones on the market but if you’re on a budget and want to get a smartphone with decent specs you can show off, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo and J7 Prime should be on your list of considerations. They make for a great deal.
